FAQs

BOTOX/Wrinkle Relaxers

Is Botox safe?

Approved by the FDA in 2002, BOTOX® Cosmetic (botulinum toxin type A) consists of a purified protein that temporarily prevents and reverses fine lines and wrinkles such as expression lines that form between the brows (also known as “11 lines”), around the eyes (“crow’s feet”), and forehead lines.

Botox has a remarkably safe history with millions of treatments done and only 36 cases of adverse effects reported to the US FDA between 1989 and 2003, with 13 of these cases being associated with underlying conditions and not the drug itself.

When should I start getting Botox?

Botox is approved for patients who are 18 years of age and older, however, there is no right or wrong age to start. Patients can seek preventative treatment with Botox in their mid to late 20’s and early 30’s when expression lines and wrinkles are just becoming visible. Patients should be evaluated by a medical professional prior to treatment to discuss skin goals and desired outcomes.

Is a Botox treatment painful?

Botox treatments are quick with minimal discomfort. The treatment requires no numbing or recovery time.  Many people get a Botox treatment during their lunch hours and are able to return to work right after their appointment.

How long does Botox last?

3-4 months, depending on how quickly your body processes the Botox.

How often do I have to get Botox?

We will discuss this at your appointment as it is based on your skin health, goals, and budget. Patients can choose to maintain their Botox results for longer periods by undergoing intermittent, less expensive maintenance. The average maintenance treatment is every 3-6 months.

Are there any side effects after getting Botox?

Although rare, the most common side effects are swelling, bruising, redness, or tenderness around the injection site, all of which should resolve quickly without intervention.

Fillers

What are facial fillers? How do they work?

Dermal fillers are non-surgical, injectable medications that have minimal downtime and are used to improve the appearance of wrinkles and age-related volume loss of the face. We use hyaluronic acid-based fillers, which is a naturally occurring substance in the human body.

Is Dermal Filler treatment permanent?

Dermal fillers are not permanent and the results are seen instantly after treatment. Results can last between 1 to 2 years and can be maintained through regular repeated treatments.

What filler do I need?

Each filler that we offer is uniquely formulated for different areas of the face. Our provider will consult with you to determine the best filler for optimal results.

How much does Dermal Filler cost?

Dermal fillers range between $500-$800 per syringe and the final cost will depend on treatment areas and patient goals. Our provider will discuss the treatment plan and final cost before proceeding with any procedures.

Are there any side effects after receiving filler?

The most common side effects after dermal fillers are usually mild and can range from redness, bruising, tenderness, or swelling. These should resolve within days after treatment but can last up to 2 weeks.
